Missing out on summer festivities has always been customary for me due to the personal demands on my time, however this year I decided to change that and take time off. The buzz and excitement for the Edmonton Pride Parade was immense, with a venue change Whyte Avenue kicking off it's 35th anniversary.
I didn't know what to expect, this being my first experience, and it ended up being a lot of fun. The atmosphere was bright and colourful; and there was an overwhelming element of appreciation, love, and joy for one another regardless of their differences.
I make a living of interpreting what I see through my lens, and the affirmation I received was that regardless of race, religion, creed, or lifestyle - acceptance, and constructive dialogue will allow our society to push forward. It goes to show that our differences are just non-physical boundaries we put up, once you break them down you realize the individual behind the wall is very much like yourself.
