We have many festivals in Edmonton, but the Heritage Festival over the three days of the August long weekend is, bar none, my favourite summer event (sorry other Festivals, please still like us). There are many reasons for this, but just like the events stretching across Pride Week, the Heritage Festival is a singular showcase of successful inclusion and celebration of differences and diversity in our uniquely Edmonton culture - a celebration of our shared heritage.
It's got friendly faces, great food, lively cultural performances, and it all takes place in our beautiful urban parkland. Celebrating 40 years, what more can one ask for? Well, maybe just one more thing - estimated attendance was 382,000, and that's a record. I'm sure many thanks are in order, for all the volunteers, the Edmonton Food Bank supporters, and the City resources that made it all possible. It was great fun, thank you for another magnificent year well done!
